Office Referrals
When a student falls below the line in his or her behavior s/he will be expected to “fix” the problem. Make it Right plans are available to classroom teachers and staff in both english and spanish to address the steps in reviewing the process of identifying inappropriate behavior, knowing with whom to repair your relationship and developing a plan to climb back above the line.
If a student is not able to do this under a staff member’s supervision, an office referral request is made and a Behavior Response Team member will assist the student in addressing the situation outside of class. Communication with parents/guardians of our student of this process is to inform parents of lost academic time, review the inappropriate behavior, discuss the plan to make it right, reinforce Safe, Respectful, and Responsible behaviors applied.
If a student falls below bottom line, the MMSD Board of Education’s Code of Conduct will be followed.
Additional interventions are also available to meet the need of teaching appropriate behaviors on an individual basis. These resources will be used with parental involvement.
At Home:
When addressing home behaviors that fall below the line of family expectations, a similar approach of helping a child identifying how s/he has fallen below the line, with whom s/he needs to repair the relationship and how to “make it right” is a useful process our students will recognize from classroom interventions.
