Changes for Tonight's PTO Meeting

Dear Thoreau Parents and Staff,

Due to scheduling conflicts for our guest speakers, the PTO meeting about 5th grade transition to Cherokee Middle School, originally planned for next week, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, April 12, 2016, from 6:30-8:00 p.m., in the Thoreau LMC.  We apologize for any inconvenience.
The PTO meeting on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 (6:30-8:00 p.m., in the Thoreau LMC) will feature a special guest speaker, Gail Prasad, from UW-Madison, who will head up Thoreau’s new pilot program which incorporates multilingualism and multiculturalism.  She will present an overview of the writing unit that K/1 classes will be doing that highlights the multiple languages spoken in our classrooms, ending with a published book for each child.
We look forward to seeing you at the PTO meeting tonight!

February PTO Meeting --- "Love Thoreau"

The next PTO Meeting will be held Tuesday, February 9th from 6:30pm-8:00pm at Thoreau in the LMC. The theme is LOVE THOREAU! We will share a meal, talk about volunteer opportunities and have an open forum to discuss ideas and input from all parents and teachers. Have an idea you think the PTO should implement? Come and have your voice heard! The PTO will provide sandwiches to everyone in attendance as a THANK YOU for all of the hard work you do for Thoreau! The activities, events and Thoreau community would not exist without YOU! Feel free to bring a side dish or a dessert to pass but it is not necessary, we are just excited to see you! As always, childcare will be provided. Need a ride? Call Amy in the office at 608-204-6940 and she can help arrange it.

Fundraiser for new Risers

The risers currently used for Ms. Whalley’s wonderful music programs are about 40 years old and need to be replaced. A Go Fund Me to raise money to put towards a new set of risers has been started by a group of Thoreau parents. The new risers will have back rails for safety and hopefully last another 40 years. Please CLICK HERE for more details or to donate! Feel free to share the link with others. If you have questions about this project please contact Tiffany Mack at tiffanymack1@gmail.com.
